It's safe to say that Lady Gaga's fashion sense is an acquired taste. You either love it or you hate it .Well, at the 10th Annual Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards, last night it seems like they love her style.In fact, the CFDA loves it so much, that they presented her with the Fashion Icon Award for 2011.There is already debate about whether the flamboyant singer should have taken home the top gong with debate mounting about whether Gaga is worthy of icon status.Traditionally, models, actresses and socialites have won the prize and the chart topper is the first person with such unconventional dress sense to win the award, Forbes reports.But, others have pointed to Gaga's global reach as making her a worthy recipient. New York Magazine's The Cut column argued that Gaga deserved the accolade because: "people still want to look at Gaga perhaps more than any other person on this planet because of what she wears." Past winners include Kate Moss, Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Kidman and Iman, who are all renowned for their style.Other recipients at the awards included Alexander Wang (Womenswear Designer of the Year) and Marc Jacobs (Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award).
