HOW TO WEAR...LACE

DIOR

Forget the old imagery of lace for women of your grandma‘s age. We love lace because it‘s beautiful, seductive and elegant- but it can look cheap, feel scratchy and can sometimes look tarty. So here are a few essential tips on wearing lace. That it should be worn sparingly is undoubtedly the best advice.

HUDSON

If you are going for a one-piece, such as a lace dress , then make the rest of your outfit quite spiky (high, glam heels and a killer bag) for fear of appearing too retro. Lace looks great peeping out on a camisole from beneath a structured blazer, or as a trim on a top. It‘s also worth playing around with different fabrics: lace shirts and skirts look best combined with a leather, silk or faux fur .

VALENTINO

.As lace provides the main fabric of an outfit rather than just edging or fringing, be careful not to kill the look with fussy accessories. Lace can look fantastic against alabaster skin, yes ladies , I know that this is tough love but it‘s time to ditch the fake tan – once and for all!If you prefer your lace in moderation then choose a lace covered handbag or a pair of sophisticated lacy pumps or lace ankle boots.
ALEXANDER MQUEEN

Lace is one of those fashion trends that is incredible versatile and affordable, and is likely to last you many years. If you already have a lace dress or top hanging in your wardrobe you can create an high fashion look if you team it with a biker jacket or faux fur stole - perfect.
